The Red Hat breach is a reminder that this isn't a solved problem. It's an ongoing negotiation between convenience and security, and convenience has been winning for a long time. Whether that changes in response to incidents like this, well, it's too early to say. History suggests we'll have this same conversation again after the next major supply chain compromise, and the one after that.
For now, audit your dependencies. Check if you're affected. And maybe think twice before that next npm install.
